The Lodge Barna Mustards is the brain child of Galway businesswoman Brigid Brophy, who although retired for several years alway likes to have a new project to hand.

Born on the island of Malta in the early 1950's, Brigid was educated by the La Sainte Union nuns at Our Lady's Bower in Athlone. After leaving school she joined her mother Sile Clarke and Aunt Eibhlin O'Beirn in the family pharmacy in Galway City. O'Beirn's Pharmacy was opened in 1935 by Brigid's grandfather Dr.Seamus O'Beirn who had a large GP practice locally and was also the first chairman of An Taibhdhearc.

Brigid has many hobbies and interests, however her passion has always been any form of motor sport in particular rallying. She attributes her interest in cars and that of her late sister Sabina(Sam) to her Belfast born dad Billy Clarke, who actually built an entire car with his friend as a young man.

Galway Motor Club was Brigid's introduction to ther Dublin born solicitor Bryan Brophy and the pair went on to achieve many firsts in the motorsport world both nationally and internationally, Bryan was appointed FIA Steward for F1 for almost 10 years.

Brigid is mother to Joanna, Robert, and Emma and grandmother to Ivan, whom she relies on for the inspiration and humour attached to her quirky assortment of mustard flavours. In addition to a busy family life and work at the pharmacy Brigid found time to complete a course in culinary arts in GMIT in 2000.

The Lodge Mustards include Horesradish, Prosecco & Tarragon, Clove Spiced, Raspberry, Buckie and Old Engine Oil. The Old Engine Oil Mustard which is flavoured with a Scottish Ale of this name was launched at the 2016 Galway International Rally and was given a resounding Revs up from the competitors. Never one to rest on her laurels Brigid has just added two exciting new mustards to her range: Galway Hooker Pale Ale Mustard and Dingle Gin, Juniper & Lime Mustard. 

Brigid has also branched out to provide mustard as wedding favours and corporate gifts.
